Parent volunteers needed – sign up here

The Parksmart scheme will be running at school for 3 weeks from Tuesday the 19th of September 2023. Parksmart is a 3 week scheme developed by the Road Safety & Active Travel Team at Edinburgh Council, it is aimed at improving driver behaviour outside school and encouraging healthy active-travel alternatives to driving.

It will involve traffic counts carried out by the Junior Road Safety Officers from the school (6 x P6’s) in weeks’ 1 and 3 (counting form attached for info). We need parent volunteers for 30 minute sessions at morning drop off and pick up to supervise and support the Junior Road Safety Officers each day in week 1 and week 3. There will be 6 Junior Road Safety Officers, 4 parents and 1 or 2 members of school staff outside the school for each traffic counting session, half will be located at Warrender Park Road the other half on Whitehouse Loan.

The days we need cover are Tues 19th – Fri 22nd Sept for week 1, and Monday 2nd – Fri 6th Oct for week 3 (there are no counts during week 2). We need 4 parents from 8.30 – 9am in the morning and 4 from 2.45 – 3.15pm each day.

There are 72 parent volunteer slots to fill in all, if you can help out with any of these please could you email
